Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the teacher of bright, creative, and resilient individuals. My students have a great love for learning that makes teaching so enjoyable.

My school has over 25 countries represented in it.

My school is also a Title I school, and 47% of our population is English Language Learners. My students live in neighborhoods where poverty and crime are the norm. My students face numerous struggles each day. They come from families that are not always able to provide supplies or academic assistance. Given all of the challenges my students face each day, my hardworking fourth graders come to school every day with a smile on their faces and love of learning in their hearts.

It is very simple: my students love school. School is their safe place. It is more than just the place where they come to learn. It is the place where they are loved! In many ways, my students are typical fourth graders. They are full of wonder, joy, and laughter. They love being creative, books, music, and technology. Life is not always easy for these kids, but they have learned that hard work and perseverance pay off. It is an honor to be their teacher.

My Project

I had the privilege of attending the Ron Clark Academy and experiencing the magic of it all. I would love to create this amazing atmosphere within my own classroom.

Real world experiences are the absolute best way to ensure rigor, increase engagement, and simply make students see the importance of learning.

With these resources, I will have classroom transformations such as a construction site that can be connected to math and science skills. In addition to the construction site, I plan on creating a courtroom transformation where students would be asked to defend their writing, and a bakery where students could determine author’s purpose in reading or work on developing measurement skills in math. The options for transformations are limitless. Help me bring the Ron Clark revolution to my classroom.
