This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I plan to use the rolling whiteboards in my AVID elective class and my multilingual literacy classes for students to collaborate to solve problems, and sharpen their critical thinking skills.
Specifically, I will use them in my AVID class during tutorials.
Tutorials are an AVID skill where students identify a problem from one of their core classes that is confusing to them. Students are grouped by the topic of their problem (math, ELA, science, or history). The students, then, present their problem to the group one at a time, and work through it together, while asking and answering questions and building on other's answers.
I will also use them in my multilingual literacy classes for students to work in groups to study academic vocabulary, analyze text, and revise writing.
The whiteboards are important, so that students can all see what the presenting student is writing clearly. They are also easy to erase, and portable.
