This year, I took on the challenge of a dual position at my school: Reading Specialist 5-8 and Librarian K-8. During my first year at this school, I made a promise to myself that I'd ooze positivity every day I walked across the threshold. I'm proud to say I have maintained that mentality and have modeled such for my students.
My students are opinionated, passionate, and driven young adults.
They see my positivity and sometimes they match it, sometimes they don't - and that's okay! But I know it's MY job to be that source for them every day.
My Project
Any functioning library requires a book truck. A book truck is basically a rolling bookshelf where any books that were recently checked-in go. I currently have a rectangular box where students put their books after check in. However, it is no longer efficient as I have too many students checking books in and out!
While this is a great problem, it is still a problem that needs resolution.
A book truck will help my volunteers and me stay organized in the library. Further, it will increase our efficiency in getting books back to their proper homes on the shelves to be checked out all over again!
