Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our library is the center of learning in our elementary school. Our students visit the library often for a variety of reasons and I want to continue to serve them in the best possible way. Our school has approximately 600 students, and it is growing every day.
Our students and their needs are as diverse as the books in my library.
Our school is a Title I school with at least 1/3 of the student population coming from low socioeconomic families. Our elementary school serves Kindergarten through 5th-grade students. I am the library media specialist on our campus.
My Project
Students can work collaboratively to make obstacle courses, races, and program different paths. These robots can be incorporated into math, science, and vocabulary lessons easily as well.
Sphero minis are a wonderful tool to help student learn about programming / coding.
Dash and spheros can be programmed three different ways: Drawing, Blocks, and Text. Our elementary students will focus on programming using drawing and blocks.
Sphero Edu provides educators with tools, collaborative STEM lessons, and additional training to help students get the most from these robots. Through creative activities, students can learn to program their robots while nurturing their cognitive skills and independent exploration.
These are the tools students need to be future ready learners!
