This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This may sound silly, but in my previous classroom, I became very used to rolling from one student to the next. These rolling chairs help adults move around the room and be level with the students. We can keep supplies with us via a lap basket and we can get to the highlights of learning faster. How? Without rolling teacher chairs, we have to squat down or search for an empty chair in a classroom with limited chairs available to students/staff.

Quicker mobility and comfort within the classroom will result in a more efficient school day.

Our school also has several opportunities to celebrate students and one of the rewards will be a pass for that student to be able to sit in one of the rolling chairs for a day. The idea of sitting in a teacher chair is a thrill for many (most of my) primary level students. These chairs will ideally last at least a few school years and provide comfort to staff members in my classroom.
