Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My PreK students are in their first year of a PreK-5 Spanish Immersion program. The students come from English, Spanish, and other language backgrounds. Our wonderful program has been in existence since the early 1990s but added PreK in 2004. It is a unique opportunity to learn a second language while focusing on social-emotional development and kindergarten readiness in a public school setting. Our goal is to foster bilingualism, biliteracy, and biculturalism that will last our students a lifetime.
My Project
Kids love to have fun learning toys at home, especially now when we can't be face to face in a classroom.
Students can use the number and dot dice to play games along with the teacher in Zoom meetings.
They can also use them to build number recognition and counting skills during independent work time. Sidewalk chalk is a great option to get the kids outside to work on their creativity and art skills.
The biggest dice would be helpful for me to show the kids when I am modeling a game in a Zoom meeting.
