My Students
My classroom is a high school's special day class with an exciting group of various interests, abilities, and goals. All of my students have extensive support needs due to their intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments . Learning looks different for every student. Some of my students are learning how to read, write, and count, and some are learning how to follow directions or participate in a class. We work with each student individually to help them succeed in school and community setting.
My classroom is about building skills to get included, and learn the way each student can.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to feel comfortable while learning and gives them the opportunity to choose where and how they need to sit. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them and help them focus in class. All my students benefit from having a choice in their seating, as that helps them to be more engaged, and get more work completed. The rolling stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables and will still allow easy movement for collaboration. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get some space or need to work at a table with their peers.
