My Project
I work with special education students grades PK-5. I have had a great success on our fun Fridays running Dungeons and Dragons and other role playing games for my students. My students enjoy the game and don't even realize they are learning math, ELA skills, emotional regulation and collaboration skills.
The items I am asking for will be used in class as well as for after school enrichment.
Studies have shown that students learn better when gamification is involved as the accomplishment of an objective in a game triggers the same part of the brain as achieving an accomplishment in real life. I have been using table top role playing games to enhance my special education students academic achievements, for there is a lot of literacy and math involved, as well as their social emotional development and regulation skills.
