My Students

How long can you sit still and stay focused for one period of time? Imagine how much harder that is for a first grade student who is 6 or 7 years old! My goal as a teacher is to do whatever it takes to help all of my students be successful and I have discovered that different styles of seating is a big key to that success!

Don't you just love when retailers put that label "One Size Fits All?" I am here to tell you that one size DOES NOT fit all no matter what the sticker says.

When I first began teaching every student had a traditional chair (using the one size fits all approach) and I quickly began to realize that my kids needed to move! I believe that if you take the need to move away, then you create more time for learning. So I shifted away from the one size fits all approach and adopted different seating options such as: yoga balls, wobble disk, and wobble stools. I want to keep adding different seating options to my classroom so that my students will continue to move while they learn!

My Project

These scoop rockers requested in this project have the potential to make such a difference for my students! These rockers allow the students to move quietly without interrupting instruction. The movement allows them to release energy while staying focused and engaged, and they would make an awesome addition to any learning environment . . . especially mine!

My project, if funded, would provide the most updated materials available to help my students stay focused and engaged so they can receive the education they need and deserve!
