This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning I am greeted by twenty-five smiling faces that are ready to learn. We begin our day with a 120 minute literacy block. During this time my students are engaged in both reading and writing. We then become engaged in science, social studies, math, and other subjects throughout the day.

This year I have twenty-five wonderful students.

Similar to my school, my class is very diverse, with many of my students having the ability to speak multiple languages. In addition to language diversity my students are also diverse in terms of their learning styles. I have students that are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. While many of my students are able to sit for extended periods of time I have others that need to be constantly in motion. They are very hardworking students yet they sometimes lose focus due to the restraints that sitting in a chair may cause.

My Project

My students will be able to use the Hokki Stools in order to increase their concentration in the classroom and fulfill their need for movement. They will be able to gently rock from side to side without causing a disruption for other students. The Hokki Stools will be most beneficial during our reading block since my students will be seated for such a long period of time. They will allow my students to maintain their focus throughout my lessons without feeling as though they are unable to move around.

Donations towards our Hokki Stools will help my students focus and fulfill their need for movement.

Since my students will be able to focus more on the lessons that I am teaching they will be able to see an improvement in their learning and grades. This will also help boost their self-esteem since they will be able to succeed in school.
