Rocking Out In Pre-K

My students need 3 sets of musical instruments and 3 music CDs.

Preschool is a busy place to be! Our class is composed of students ranging in age from 3 to nearly 5. We are a low income/high poverty area and many students have had limited experiences prior to coming to preschool. Many of our students receive special education services.

With 18 students our numbers have increased from previous years, so we don't have enough musical items to go around. Our school also does not have specials (i.e. music, art, library, computers, PE) for preschoolers, so classroom teachers are providing all services.

We need music in our lives! Our students respond well to music and movement! We need some instruments that the students can explore during free play time and others that can be used during large group music sessions. New CDs of children's music will also help teach concepts of rhyming and alliteration. They love to sing and dance and there is so much we can learn through songs. Instruments also really interest the children and we would love to have enough for all the students to be able to choose what they would like to play.

Your donation will give students an opportunity to have the power of music in their lives! Music is a great way to build confidence, skills, and friendship. Help our students grow!
