It's hard to describe my students in just a few words! They are wonderfully talented students who challenge themselves each and every day. They absorb new knowledge like little sponges, and take what they learn and pass it along to others. They help me to grow everyday, just like I push them to become better students and advocates.
It's a pleasure to watch them set goals for themselves each day, and exert so much effort to achieve them.
I feel so lucky to be their teacher, and help them be successful in the classroom and in the world. I’m always looking for new ways to keep them engaged in learning, beyond what we already do.
My Project
Imagine walking into a classroom where all of the students are fully engaged in learning. Whether they’re working independently, with partners, or in small groups with the teacher, they’re actively searching for new ways to learn.
Imagine a classroom where the teacher is active, and the students are out of their seats singing, and dancing, and learning a lot of new information.
All of these kids are working on grade level, and take in new information in different ways. When the teacher is teaching, they’re hanging on her every word, just wondering what new activity or idea may come next.
By attending The Ron Clark Academy I will have the opportunity to learn new strategies to engage my students no matter their culture. I will be learning from some of the most engaging teachers in the country, ways to engage even the most reluctant learners. I plan to provide my fellow educators with details of my experience in order to bring what I learn into the whole school, rather than isolate it in my classroom. This will make for an overall more engaging school for all students.
