My Students
In my school, I never go through a day without a student's big smile and happy wave. My students come from a high poverty area where resources are stretched thin. We are a Title I school where 83% of my students receive free or reduced-priced lunch.
Often, my students struggle in school and really deserve the supplies they need to meet the standards they will be tested on.
They are all visual learners and need concrete examples to help them understand and comprehend the skills they are learning. I have taught third grade for 5 years and have been a member of ATPE for all 5. I love what I do and love ATPE.
My Project
My students love to read and work all over our classroom. Right now we have a comfy chair to sit in, but it is starting to fall apart. We need a new special rocking chair that students will be motivated to get to work in. They will use the chair to read together and work individually on assignments. The chair will also serve as a great location for read alouds in our room. Listening to reading is so important for students at this age, and school is the only time that happens for most of our kids. With your help this time will be even more special.
