it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My wonderful 3rd graders are energetic, inquisitive, and engaged! They love to create, explore, read, and write. It is a pleasure to enter my classroom daily and work with these amazing children! I have many children with learning challenges that include ADHD, autism, memory issues, and/or dyslexia. My students' skills range from struggling to meet grade level expectations to far exceeding them. My students come from homes where families range from living in poverty to having lower middle-class income. Many parents at our school are very supportive and involved in their student's education, which is wonderful!
I am hoping to be able to add a rocking chair to our reading area to make it easier to connect with my students in their space during our various activities.
Giving my students a cozy area to read will increase their engagement with literature. I want to create a space in my reading center where students are able to engage with a book. Being able to escape to places they can only go while reading. Creating a space of safety and relaxation can only enhance their learning. Rocking while reading creates a space where students can learn to love reading again. They will be able to relax by rocking in a chair and letting their reading take them to new places.
