My Students

Reading is fun! And with Pete the Cat, reading is downright hilarious! Help my emergent readers practice their blossoming reading skills with Pete the Cat.

My transitional kindergarten students are enthusiastic learners.

They enjoy listening to stories and reading with friends. Some are beginning to orally share their own stories. Approximately 2/3 of my students are learning English as a second language. Our primary center is located in an urban area and most of the students receive reduced cost or free breakfast and lunch.

My Project

As soon as I reach for my borrowed copy of Pete and Cat: I Love My White Shoes, my students immediately settle down and wait for the fun to begin. They join in with the predictable text, enthusiastically reading and singing along with their friends. Pete the Cat even inspires my most reluctant reader to join in on the fun. Having a permanent collection of Pete the Cat books will certainly help generate a classroom full of eager readers! Students will be able to read the books independently, with a buddy and will also be able to borrow the books and read them with family members.

My students need high interest reading material.

They need access to easy and fun materials daily. These books will be available to students during our time together at school. Students will also enjoy these books at home by borrowing them from the classroom library.
