This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This engaging, hands-on project will spark curiosity, deepen scientific understanding, and encourage important life lessons about perseverance and patience. Using a rock tumbler, rough rocks, and gem and mineral identification guides, my students will explore the fascinating science of geology and the natural processes that shape our world. As they observe dull stones transform into polished gems, they’ll also reflect on their own personal growth—learning that, like rocks under pressure, they too can change and improve with time, effort, and support. This project will inspire both academic discovery and emotional resilience, helping my students understand that science—and success—is a process of transformation.
