My students come to our classroom for small group instruction, where they also have access to a calm-down and sensory space. This area is essential—not only does it provide a relaxing break during the day, but it also serves as a safe space for students to regulate their emotions when they’re feeling overwhelmed or dysregulated.
The space is equipped with a variety of sensory tools and calming books that support emotional well-being.
However, the current rug has seen better days. It's several years old and can no longer be cleaned effectively. A new, soft, and clean rug would make a big difference—giving my students a comfortable place to sit, reset, and return to learning feeling more grounded and ready to succeed.
