My Students
Choice is a big word in second grade. As learners students are encouraged to make more and more choices, from the strategies we choose in Math to the choices we make during centers. The students in my class are independent learners who love to be able to make choices regarding how they learn best.
My students know that I value their feedback and that they are partners in learning with me.
We are a Title I school in an urban school district. It is a fast-paced environment and the kids are always on the move! The students in my class come from diverse multicultural backgrounds, many with English spoken as a second language. Students are encouraged to work in a space that provides them with the optimal opportunity for learning. You can find them tucked away in a corner on a rug, laying on the floor with a cushion, or even burrowed under a table.
My Project
The addition of this Zuma Floor Rocker to our flexible seating options will allow me to reach all the learners in my class. Those who have difficulty sitting in a chair or tire of standing will be able to use the floor rockers to help get those wiggles out that can interfere with learning.
Providing greater choice for learning is a goal in my classroom.
Floor seating is always a top choice for my students but cushions can get torn and don't provide the stability my students need for writing. This rocker will provide my students with a fun choice for learning that will provide comfort and allow them to really focus on the content and stamina we are trying so hard to develop in 2nd grade.
