My Project
My music students have been learning to play many instruments this past year including percussion instruments, recorder, bucket drums, and singing. They are looking for more instruments to learn so that we can explore new ways of expressing creativity together. The middle school students are especially eager to begin a Modern Band ensemble, which uses rock band instruments like drums, electric guitar, electric bass, and vocals.
With the funding of this project, students in fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade will be able to learn ensemble songs on quality rock band instruments.
Research shows that learning rock band instruments improves memory, concentration, hand-eye coordination, and lowers anxiety levels. Additionally, playing popular songs that are relevant to students' every day lives can confidence, relieves stress, and helps you become a better listener.
This project will help to bring new instruments and new opportunities for creative adventures to students at Ward. Thank you for your support of our growing music program!
