Rocketbooks to Launch Science Notebooks Into the Cloud

Help me give my students Rocketbooks for science class! Rocketbooks are reusable, Cloud-connected notebooks that allow students to take notes, make design sketches, and then send them to their Google Drive.

My Students

My students are in their first year of middle school. They are eager and excited for all things science. Our Project Lead the Way curriculum provides students many opportunities to solve real-world problems that exist today and may exist in the future. This is an introduction to careers in science, technology and engineering. In order to create the best possible learning environment for my students, I begin with helping them to develop a growth mindset. This enables them to persevere as they learn from failure since all of their solutions are innovative and new.

My Project

My students keep engineering notebooks throughout the year in science. We use them daily to make design sketches, record life lessons and vocabulary terms as well as work through the engineering design process with team members. These notebooks are an integral part of our PLTW Design and Modeling class.

My students are digital natives so upgrading our pencil and paper engineering notebooks to Rocketbooks would allow them to use their engineering notebooks for notes and sketches and then upload their work to the Cloud.

When students are able to make their written sketches and notes digital they will be able to include them in their digital learning portfolio which will allow them to use their classwork as a part of their college readiness work and future portfolio's for college entrance.

Since I teach engineering design, the work my students are doing is extremely relevant to their college and career entrance portfolios so I look forward to providing this opportunity for my students!
