My Students

"Science is the reason I come to school," exclaimed J.P. on the first day of school. Help me continue to ignite his and the rest of my students' passion for learning through the awesome fun that is hands-on science learning.

A thousand characters is hardly enough space to tell you about my students.

They are amazing. They are gifted and talented in the arts. They love to create and dream as they learn. I have been their teacher for 2 years now as I looped with them from 2nd to 3rd grade. They have taught me more than I could have ever taught them. Our school is an inner city school in South Carolina and has a very high poverty rate. My students never use that as an excuse. They reach high to obtain their goals. When they fall short, I am there to lift them up the rest of the way so that they are successful in all they do!

My Project

Over the years I have taught these students, I have learned that they are crazy about science. I wear a lab coat to teach anything science-related, and they become ecstatic when they see me put it on. Since I am new to the grade level this year, I find myself needing new materials to keep up with their excitement. When I stumbled across this Rock Kit from Carolina Biological supply, I knew that it was a perfect item for my class. It is full of various rock samples, magnifying glasses, and materials to test and examine the rocks as required by our state. It also comes with mystery puzzles that students read and solve based on their knowledge of rocks. My kids LOVE mysteries. By having the mysteries included in the kit, it will give me an opportunity to integrate literature into our science unit. This kit will be a HUGE hit in my classroom. My mind is already filled with ideas of how it will impact my students.

When students love something, it is the teacher's job to capitalize on that love and turn it into an awesome learning experience.
