My Students
My classroom consists of curious and mind intriguing fifth grade boys and girls. Many of them probably haven't realize their full potential in the area of math and sciences.
It is my goal to use science, math, and technology to spark a flicker that will hopefully turn into a flame.
My students come from diverse backgrounds.
The school is in a low socioeconomically disadvantaged area. The students here are eager and excited about learning with me as their teacher.
With extra resources, I can bring these students to horizons never realized. Education will be their passport to becoming productive and successful members of society.
My Project
My students need rocket kits to stimulate critical and intelligent thinking. The students in my class will use the materials to measure, construct, analyze, research, hypothesize, and discover about rocketry as it is related to physical science.
The students will be invited to join a Rocket Club and launch their hand built rockets at NASA Goddard Space Center once a month.
The students will further learn that education can be interesting and be a catalyst towards long term career goals.
Donations for this project will change the lives of my students forever.
I was able to do this project with about 4 fifth graders some years ago. Not only did it have a positive impact on their lives, but other students' lives as well.
During our rocket launch, other students and classes were invited to witness this phenomenal activity.
I have a video tape from previous years and whenever I share it with other students and classes, they are amazed.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
