Help me give my students a Next Generation Complete Science Kit for Human Systems Interactions so I can continue to teach the Next Generation Science Standards to my sixth graders in a fun and engaging way.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Sixth Graders! My students are wonderful, witty, and wise eleven and twelve year old learners. They attend a small, Title I elementary school in Nevada that was built in the 1950's. We serve breakfast and lunch to all students and many stay to eat dinner after school. Quite a few of my students take care of younger siblings and share in the chores at home while their parents are working. A high percentage of my students are bilingual, English Language Learners (ESL). They are learning required grade level material every day, with the added roadblock of a language barrier.
My students are as capable as all other students in the nation, and I just want to give them the same opportunities.
One of the truly nice things about my school is that it really is a neighborhood school. It is relatively small compared to other schools in the district, and most of the students that attend have many other family members here. All of our students live within walking distance and it is a real community. I believe that all of my students have the ability to do anything they set their minds to.
My Project
Who doesn't love an incredible science experiment? There's nothing more magical than science coming alive in the classroom. That is why we need this Next Generation FOSS kit to help us continue to learn more about the way our human body systems interact.
Science needs to be hands-on, amazing, and a little messy!
On a daily basis, we need to do great science investigations to help students tackle big questions about body systems and the environmental factors that affect them. What happen when the body is attacked by an invader or an organ system malfunctions? How do cells get the resources they need to live? How do cells gain access to the energy stored in energy-rich compounds? How do systems support the human organism as it senses and interacts with the environment?
Our current materials are extremely limited and out of date. They also don't match the science standards I am required to teach. This kit supplements my Diversity of Life FOSS kit and helps me meet the rest of the standards I am required to teach in sixth grade.
By giving my classroom this kit, you'll be catapulting the students into 21st century science in a fun and interactive way. Please, help my students become incredible scientists!
