My project needs a set of science readers, a video on prehistoric life, a classroom sampler of rocks, a scientific model of the rock cycle, a sampler of rocks and minerals, and a classroom project that will help my kids learn about rocks and their characteristics.
Hello. I am a second grade teacher in Santa Clara, and I work at a Title 1 school where 66% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. The kids at my school LOVE science, and bringing Realia into the class is the best way to allow them to explore things.
As part of CA standards, in second grade we study soil formations and the three types of rock (igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary). I am looking to have some science materials donated to my classroom to use over the years, to bring the outdoors inside, so my kids can see things they normally do not have access to outside of school.
If I get materials to use for this unit, my students will perform scientific experiments using the Scientific Method. They will learn ways to describe rocks, watch the rock cycle, and test rocks for harness and to see what minerals may be inside it.
Thank you for donating to my proposal!
