My Students

Although our students at our Title I school come from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, it is easy to describe the students - awesome! Each student is ADMIRABLE with their unique learning strengths, talents, and needs. They completely win our hearts with their honesty and willingness to learn. When things are getting tough, they always put forth good, better, or best effort as they know it really helps make a difference. Their smiles, joy and laughter are goals as well as rewards. They approach each day with an open mind, curiosity, and wonderment.

It is always heartwarming to see those many moments when “we” is more powerful than just “me.” Being able to engage 21st century learning in an inspiring, resilience building, multiple intelligence supporting, and growth mindset promoting environment that effectively and creatively adapts to the needs of all learners in our new social distancing world will truly help them soar.

My Project

Art naturally supports social and emotional learning. It encourages creativity, allows for free expression, develops self-awareness, and promotes acceptance of differences.

Learning about emotions in ourselves and in others and painting rocks with caring inspirational words is a creative way to grow a garden of kindness.

What a fun and creative way for students to express themselves and develop positive relationship skills along the way! Messages meaningful intended for self or others can be enjoyed when needed or shared as the importance of treating self and others with kindness each and every day is emphasized. Paint a rock? How fun!
