Help me give my students a more robust distance-learning experience this fall, with a document camera and whiteboard that will allow me to conduct synchronous lessons much as I normally would.
My junior high students are inquisitive and hardworking. They are genuinely curious about the world around them and always ready to engage with my lessons and with the texts we read.
Last spring, we were all thrown for a loop when COVID hit.
My students stepped up to the plate admirably, and we maintained high participation as I taught the last unit of the year--on Shakespeare, no less!
My Project
The end of the last school year was difficult for everyone, as we were basically trying to build the airplane as we flew it.
Given the fact that we will be learning remotely, at least in the near future, I know that it will be even more important to find ways to help the students in my English class with their reading and writing skills.
The document camera will be a key element in my distance-learning classroom, as I will use it to display materials that I am reading and to demonstrate editing skills in real time.
I have devoted my summer to learning more to augment the skills I gained last spring through trial and error, and am ready to do so much more with my classes this fall.
