Dr. Brandon from Ripley TN is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Teaching students to embrace technology for more than texting and gaming is the focus of my class. One of the skills they learn online is computer code. It is time to move these skills into some hands on projects. Robotics will offer that opportunity.
Our rural school is located in a high poverty area.
It provides food for stomachs and brains and a safe place to spend the day to children who might otherwise have to do without. Our students are diverse in every way and are hungry to explore life outside of their small community. They struggle each day with learning how to grow as students and young adults but they always appreciate a kind word and an engaging lesson - whether it is in the classroom or the hallway.
We are fortunate to have a technology lab where students can learn to use computers for productivity, creativity, and learning. As part of my classes I teach students computer coding. They learn to break down complex movements into language that a computer understands.
In order to take this learning and make it more concrete, I plan to use Ozobot robots for students to create choreographed, cooperative, programs.
Students will use their coding skills to make the robots carry out complex tasks individually and in teams. This will allow students to analyze and dissect more complex tasks and translate them into the simple language needed in coding. This hands-on opportunity will turn their virtual coding tasks into movements of real objects in the real world.
Your donation will go toward the purchase of 12 Ozobot robots that I will use as a learning station in my classes as well as during our after school Tech Club. It will impact 650 students during the year and connect online learning with programs used in the real world.
