Robots: A Fun Way to Learn!

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn about robotics and coding at a young age using Dash, an amazing robot, that helps students learn how to use block language programming!

My Students

I am the Technology Teacher for our elementary school. I see 165 amazing students with a variety of educational levels and backgrounds on a daily basis. This is the first year our students have had access to a technology lab. This year we are learning to type, digital citizenship, coding, computer skills and problem solving skills. Due to COVID students have missed out on a lot of opportunities to participate in hands-on learning activities! My students are looking forward to working together in small groups to create, learn and inspire. They are deserving of this project because they are kind, respectful, capable and caring. They love to learn!!

My students participate in centers that help them develop their higher-order thinking skills, reasoning skills, how to use teamwork, become an investigative thinker and develop creativity.

My Project

The Dash Robots will allow small groups of students to work together to create, bolster their communication and success sharing skills while they program and problem solve. Coding also helps with Social Emotional Learning by creating opportunities for cooperation, collaboration, failing forward and the chance to work together.

The Dash Robots will allow me to incorporate social emotional learning, as students consider helping others during a difficult time.

Dash is a real robot that responds to voice commands. Due to COVID we have some students that are behind classroom peers in reading and are struggling to catch up. By having a robot that responds to voice commands students will be equal to peers in the classroom and not feel left out. Since COVID we have seen an increased number of foster children in our district and our low income student count has increased. The Dash Robots are easy to operate and will allow all students to feel confident in their ability to learn and succeed. The Robots are durable and easy to encourage STEAM learning in the classroom!

I believe that the Dash Robots with their colorful design and positive personality will help all students feel like they can succeed!
