This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Be the change you want to see in the world," Mahatma Gandhi once said. In order to be the change, students need your help gaining access to the tools that are providing change. My students are inspired by art, music and engineering challenges.

My students are an enthusiastic, eager group of 5th grade students who come from very diverse and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Our school is a Title 1 school. My students represent 9 different cultures and they are bilingual learners. My students are excited about learning and want to do well. Our class includes gifted learners, English language learners, and learners with special needs.

My Project

We would like to have a Kindle and Sphero robots so my students will have hands-on access to digital tools to assist in their engineering of projects. Beginning robotics and programming will inspire their creativity in art and storytelling. My students want to use technology to assist with their assignments. They enjoy the engineering challenge of incorporating math, science and art by creating final products that show elements of art, math, scientific concepts and engineering to bring the literary components to reality. Having a Kindle and programmable robots in our class will enable us to do this and also, enable the students to work collaboratively and cooperatively. They will then learn how to build a project and program the outcome to fit their challenge. Providing us with the opportunity to have a mobile devices in our classroom allows our students to have access to the technology that is used worldwide and give them the chance to explore and demonstrate their abilities

Your donations to our robotics project will be a benefit to our students.

Having a Kindle and Spheros in our class will allow me the opportunity to teach these amazing 5th graders how to use programming,to incorporate art, science, math, engineering and digital tools in their projects. My students need a Kindle and programmable robots so that they can create projects that meet STEAM standards through multimedia.
