Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Chicago Public neighborhood school, which means we have a variety of students, including low-income, diverse learners, English language learners, etc. We are a Level 1 school of distinction.

Our students love technology, using technology, and are currently learning computer coding, programming, and engineering.

They are eager to expand their knowledge and we aspire to become a full STEM school.

They particularly enjoy the hands-on activities and collaboration, and then showcasing projects for others to view, and share what they have learned.

My Project

Students enjoy coming to the STEM Lab and learning new technologies, particularly the hands-on activities. Computer scientists and higher order thinkers have to translate ideas or concepts into reality from the abstract.

These materials will be used to have students design, build, and program their robots.

This Lego project will contribute to the STEM areas by increasing critical thinking, problem-solving, applied reasoning, collaboration, communication, and creativity. My students need Lego Mindstorm EV3 kits so we can design and program robots.

I want students to sharpen listening and speaking skills, focus on increasing their collaboration skills and using those skills to solve problems. By acknowledging each other's strengths and weaknesses, they will make modifications to change or improve their results.
