Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are from a small community in rural Wisconsin. I teach library and technology. The majority of our students are living in poverty, and 75% of them are English Learners. All of my students are fun-loving, hard-working, and very eager to learn. My students are from diverse cultural and economic statuses.

Many of them do not have any exposure to technology at home, and do not have the resources that will help them guide their success.

They do not have materials to build things with their hands. The goal of this year is to get as many students in my class exposed to technology, programming, reading, and help them be resourceful innovators, and guide them towards the reality of the world- technology and engineering.

My Project

The library is the largest classroom in the school. Makerspace.com defines a makerspace as a place that serves as a gathering point for tools, projects, mentors and expertise. We would love to create a Makerspace in the library of our school where students can learn to problem solve and use hands on learning.

The students would be able to build robotics related to their research and book readings.

They would need to learn how to follow directions, and they would need to be able to collaborate together. The entire elementary school would be able to use these as a tool to enhance the learning of students.
