Robotics + Engineering + Kids = Future Roboticist and Engineers
Help me give my students access to engineering and robotics with LEGOS. We are at a school that doesn't have the resources to provide access to opportunities to learn or explore the foundational principles of robotics or engineering.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My scholars are motivated, determined, smart, and loving children that love to learn and strive to lead. They come from all different types of homes but the one thing they all seem to have in common is that they love to come to school and learn. We are lacking a lot of resources that enhance learning and encourage exploring new concepts. For my students to be able to compete with their peers from more affluent areas and internationally, it is vital that they start to get invested in their education at school and in the home. It is my job as their teacher to connect students with the resources in the classroom that will provide them with the education that they so rightfully deserve. They inspire me each and every day to find new resources and programs to support them the best way I can.
My Project
My second grade scholars love to build and create things. Recently, I introduced them to coding and they are begging to have more experiences with the program. They also love to build cars, planes, and spaceships with our LEGO set. Our LEGO set is a class favorite.
I envision that the LEGO WeDo and MINDSTORM Core sets will elevate my scholars' growing curiosity into how things work.
Engaging in activities with engineering and robotics principles will provide them with early access to learning opportunities that will spark their curiosity and open their eyes to what their future could be (if they choose that path).
The learning opportunities with LEGOS will plant the seeds to grow little engineers and roboticist. My hope is that by providing early access to these STEM subjects, my scholars will be inspired to learn more about them in the years to come. Perhaps even in college ;).
Help me introduce my scholars to engaging STEM projects that they normally don't get to experience.
