This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

STEM education is more important now than ever before. What better way to get students interested and develop their skills than building, programming, and competing in a FIRST Lego League tournament with this new EV3 robotics kit.

My students come from primarily low income minority backgrounds, with 85% qualifying for free or reduced lunches.

Last year we had our first robotics club ever and competed in a Botball tournament. The club was so popular and successful that we are opening up 6 new robotics electives this year. My students are hungry for technology and science!

My Project

With this classroom starter kit, we will be getting twelve new Lego EV3 robotics kits, a site license for the programming software, and a classroom curriculum. With this we will be able to learn the basics of engineering design, building, programming, problem solving, and "coopertition," where we work together to build our knowledge through friendly competition. Through working with robotics now, in middle school they will be on the path towards becoming our next generation of computer programmers, engineers, and scientists.

By funding this kit you will be putting in a foundation for our STEM program at our school, an investment that will carry on for many years as new students each year use these kits to compete in the new challenges in the FIRST Lego League.

Students will never forget this class or their first robotics competition. Your donation will get the momentum behind our program and give these kids a great start to their future in STEM fields.
