Robotics and Stem Challenges Spark Dragon Imagination and Creativity

My Project

I have been blessed with the opportunity to teach math and science and learn with two rambunctious and fiery groups of 4th and 5th-grade dragons. Our students and staff are proud to be dragons and we love to learn together by exploring and doing. This project would provide both classes with awesome hands-on learning opportunities!

My 4th graders are beginning a science unit on energy and the eco-friendly STEM challenge kits included in this project would provide them with an engaging and fun opportunity to learn about alternative/renewable energy sources and the engineering design process as they build solar-powered cars and wind turbines.

The robotics kits would provide my 5th graders with a fantastic opportunity to have some fun problem-solving and engaging in the engineering design process by working in their learning teams to build basic and creative robots. We have a competitive robotics team at our school, but due to program limitations only a small number of our 5th graders can participate in robotics after school. The students who are not part of our competitive team are always begging for a chance to design, build, and work with robots, so they will be absolutely thrilled if they are blessed with a donation that brings robots to our classroom!

The hooks included in our project would provide our math/science classroom with a more efficient way to store computer headsets that are often broken when they fall off regular pushpins and get stepped on.

It is my personal mission as an educator to continually support and encourage the growth of the young minds in my care to be the strongest problem-solving, critical thinking, and environmentally conscious individuals they can be. This project would provide amazing learning opportunities to aid their growth and life skills.
