My Students

My students are 5th & 6th grade partial inclusion/self-contained Special Ed. students who are struggling in Reading and Math. They need to learn critical thinking skills to succeed in high school, gain exposure to future technologies like robotics, STEAM, and to become empowered through the arts!

We are an inner city school.

Over 85% of our student population qualifies for free or reduced price lunch. Almost 90% of our students come from single parent or broken homes. Our students are African American, Hispanic, White, and ELL from around the globe. For many of our students, the best part of their day is coming to the safe and nurturing environment of our school! Our particular class consists of a range of 5th and 6th grade special needs students who struggle with the basic fundamentals of Reading and Math. We need your help!

My Project

3D printing is empowering teachers and students to advance STEAM project-based learning, solve problems through experimentation, understand complex concepts through design, study historical objects through 3D printed simulation, create and develop robotics, and become empowered through the arts. According to Sculpteo, a France based online 3D printing service: “An idea in the hand is better than 10 ideas in the head.” There’s a lot of subjects where learning becomes easier when one can “see” the product or concept. 3D printing naturally fits into curricula in areas where students are required to exercise critical thinking, problem solving and design skills. 3D printing is new and evolving and is an area where students and teachers can learn and become experts together. Currently there are few students with degrees in 3D printing and development. Having our students begin learning 3D printing skills in Middle School will also help in empowering students through art!

With your help, our students' lives will be changed for the better through the opportunity to create & become empowered through the arts with 3D printing.

Our students will learn how to use their imaginations & critical thinking skills to solve problems, & incorporate design in learning STEAM skills. Our students will gain skills in robotics, & be exposed to future technologies which will both strengthen their Math and ELA skills, & provide the hands-on learning they need to be successful.
