Roary's Gardeners 2025

Help me give my students the supplies they need to create and care for our school garden. Participating students will engage in garden design, preparation, planting, and care- using a play and project based approach to learning.

My Project

Roary's Gardeners is an afterschool program intended to provide students various options to design, build, create and care for a school garden. Our goal is to create an outdoor learning space that is accessible to all students at West District School.

The materials requested will provide students play based and inquiry learning opportunities, using the STEM approach with emphasis on practical learning and problem solving.

At WDES, we have a designated 30 x 40 garden space and this is our third year being able to offer students the opportunity to participate in hands on, outdoor learning in this space. Last summer, we were able to open the garden to all our families, who enjoyed visiting and helping to care for the garden. The students are enthusiastic to get started again this year, and the financial help from this generous grant will enable us to provide many varied opportunities for learning and growth.
