This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The use of occupying a Guided Reading Station is almost a daily activity in my classroom. Using the workshop model in reading, students come to an available area on the rug with their whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. What becomes a problem is the fact that there's no specific designated area for this reader's workshop during rotation. When something goes awry, students know that they must communicate with their peers about where to go for Guided Reading Station, or the last choice, ask the teacher. Even though they are great about doing this, it becomes a distraction for many students who have focusing issues and they miss important instruction from either myself or other students. By having a designated area for Guided Reading, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning!

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student seating consistency and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic level of achievement.

Students will be able to transition smoothly from one station to another, and not astray in a different direction. Plus students will invest more time for learn! Students will benefit from this program for many years to come.
