This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My curious 1st graders are language learners who have recently immigrated to our country and are excited to learn English. They love to explore the world around them in nature and I encourage them to talk and write about what they observe. As this can be a challenge for most of them, the animal interactive play materials and hardcover blank writing books would engage them in a world of active learning. With the dress up nature costumes they can pretend to be scientists making new discoveries. It will help them make connections to real life experiences.

Your kind donation will help my students: see and learn, play and remember, engage and never forget with a wild animal learning adventure.

The students will be able to interact with toy animals, color words, animal clip art, and labels to write and create their own "Wild Animal Adventure" books. They will be able to use the toy animals and animal clip art materials as well as the "What is It?" game to discover animal facts and descriptions. Throughout interactive play of the materials and also role playing discoveries through the dress up nature walks they can begin to create ideas about animals and then turn it into a writing piece in their personalized animal books using the vocabulary and knowledge they discovered.
