This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Title I school. My first grade class is an ICT, which Integrates special education and general education. Our classroom has a mix of students with disabilities and general education students. We have an array of abilities in our classroom. Some students are below grade level, and some are approaching grade level. Although, our kids are frustrated on many different levels, we hope to strive to create a classroom that is fun, interesting and conducive to learning.

My Project

My students need sets of guided reading books for levels H, I and J. This project will give our first grade students reading books on their reading level. Our reading library is limited and we do not have enough books on level G, H and I and our students result to sharing these books with their peers. Reading on your reading level is essential because a lower reading level book may be boring. At the same time, a book that is above their reading level may be too difficult, which may cause the students to become frustrated. It is imperative that all student have ample time to read independently so they can develop their reading skills.
