This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I was hired to bring Robotics to our middle school students. We have the VEX IQ education and competition kits, and the competition field, but the field is currently sitting on the ground amongst all the desks, meaning it is very easy to accidentally step on it. The students also have to kneel or sit on the concrete floor to work with the robots in the field. Having it on tables would allow them to more easily work with the field.

The classroom was an art room, and we are working on remaking it into a Robotics room, but there's a lot that needs to be done.

There are several students in our K-5 classes who walk by my classroom and peek inside every day, excited at the idea of being able to work with robots when they reach middle school. My goal is show them possible futures that they may have never considered for themselves.
