My students need new choral risers! This proposal begins with one of the four sections needed for a complete set of risers.
FULLY FUNDED! Dr. M.'s classroom raised $975
This project is fully funded
Choral students sing out with joy but with a critical eye on the old risers they stand upon. Our goal is to acquire new choral risers so our students can Rise and Shine without fear!
The School is one of the very few public schools in New York dedicated to meeting the special needs of intellectually gifted students in grades K-8. Our highly diverse student population comes from all five boroughs of the city and we serve over 500 students. We are also a new public school, just beginning our fourth year of operation. A majority of our music programming is funded by community donations, as the money allocated by the Department of Education is not sufficient to build a program that meets the needs of our students. These donations have successfully built a solid foundation for our music program – including a band, orchestra, and chorus program - but they fall short of covering some of the costs of growth and sustainability. One such cost is new choral risers!
Our new choral programs are very popular among middle school and lower school students – with over 80 singers and counting! However, our antiquated risers borrowed from another school (date of purchase – unknown) are inadequate to support our growing choral program – especially when we are trying to incorporate the creative and percussive movements found in such styles as folk and jazz music. Funding for new risers will provide appropriate performance platform for our choral students, and the hundreds of other students in our school that sing in the auditorium each year for graduation celebrations. They will also support our students as they travel out in to the community to share their music.
Your help with enable us to purchase strong, stable, and transportable risers so that we can continue to develop and grow the singing talents of our students without fear of falling: they will Rise and Shine!
