Our school's mission is to position our students to be creative, dedicated, and resilient learners who embrace the power of diverse ideas, talents, and cultures to improve our world. Through continuing to expand and support our after-school FIRST robotics programs, we are providing more opportunities for 60 additional students to be part of these amazing programs!
Every student needs the opportunity to experience FIRST Robotics K-12 programs and all that's out there to offer in the STE[A]M fields!
Our school is a K-12 public school that faces the same constraints and funding as all other public schools in the state of Florida. Our enrollments in engineering courses and after-school robotics programs total approximately 175 students per school year. In these courses, students are learning to design, test, document, and present their work through creative and sustainable approaches for the engineering grand challenges while also continuing to design and deliver solutions to people with disabilities, learning 3-D modeling software, and using their 3-D printed designs to solve everyday challenges in the hopes of improving the quality of life for all.
My Project
Through this project, more students will have an opportunity to participate in the 4 levels, FIRST Robotics program at our school. Currently, we only have 3 levels of the program available, and with funding for this project, students will be afforded the ability to connect the dots between the programs, thus not losing the opportunity to continue pursuit of learning STE[A]M by adding our 4th FIRST Robotics Program!
This program will fill the current void for approximately 60 students in 7th-9th grade (and beyond) who don't have a position within the younger teams and aren't quite old enough to participate at the FIRST Robotics Competition level.
We are excited to be expanding our pre-engineering programs at our school and this program is expected to draw even more students into the program!
