Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
During the difficult times of Covid-19, the most refreshing thing a teacher can see is their students smile. My students have come to this school year with several strikes against them, i.e. language barriers, poverty, social distancing and mask wearing just to name a few. Yet they still come to school smiling and eager to learn. Their excitement and thirst for knowledge encourages me to share my love of music even more everyday.
My Project
One of the first steps in music training is pitch identification, High or Low sounds, melodic direction and ordering pitches. These bells are currently simulated with our online curriculum, however I feel that having them available for the students in the classroom will help facilitate the learning better.
The classroom sets of bells are color coordinated with our Boom Whackers, which then helps bring in an additional set of pitched instruments to our young musicians.
With these instruments we will be learning fundamentals with ease of color recognition that allows for multiple teaching options.
