Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a New York City Department of Education teacher in the Bronx, I have witnessed my students of all ages, year after year, facing several obstacles that occur both in and out of the school environment. Even though they are faced with many obstacles at such an early age, my students try their best to overcome their hardships with a positive mindset. They arrive at school every morning with motivation and eagerness. They then leave with a strong sense of gratitude because of the education and opportunity that they have received.
I work in a large, Title I school with a very high population of either low income-high poverty residents or English Language Learners.
In the majority of cases, it is both. It is my goal to uplift my students in several aspects, which include their mental, emotional, social, and academic state.
My Project
Due to the pandemic, students have been presented with many challenges. One challenge is not having all the supplies they need when working remotely. For this project, I am asking for personal art kits. The art kits will be given to students in the hybrid program to use on their remote learning day so they have the resources to complete their assignments. I want to ensure students have all the supplies they need to complete assignments while learning remotely.
With this project, students will be given personal art kits with supplies to help them get through the school year.
