This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a Mandarin English Dual Language program in a public school system. They learn both languages across the curriculum every day. They are developing communication and literacy skills in both languages.
My first-grade students are enthusiastic, lively, inquisitive, and fun-loving.
They are learning to read, write, and count in the top two world languages. They need materials to nurture their mathematical skills, language literacy skills, and social development.
My Project
Reading, writing, and counting are basic literacy skills in our daily lives. My dual language first grader learners are on their journey to equip themselves with these skills to succeed in life. The donations to this project will help my students grow competence in reading, writing, counting, interpersonal communication skills, and personal finance. The grocery kits, play money and register will be used in dramatic play for mandarin language development. They will learn to read and write grocery names, and learn to add for making payments and subtract for making change.
