Help me give my students the opportunity to learn to play hand bells and our bass xylophone by having an adjustable stand so my shorter students can play with the proper technique.
Everyone loves music, but I especially see it through my elementary aged students. One thing they love, is making music with instruments. I am requesting a class set of hand bells that are color coordinated with the solfege so they can play a variety of melodies, and an adjustable rolling cart for our bass xylophone.
The hand bells will help students continue their learning by connecting the solfege (do, re, mi, fa, so, la ti, do) to the pitches that create the melodies they hear, sing, and play.
As we practice using the hand bells, we can incorporate them into songs we have already learned, and use them to perform in our concerts. This will in turn prepare them with skills to play a variety of instruments and perhaps inspire them to write their own melodies.
Another goal I have is to allow students more opportunities to play and connect the solfege to our xylophones. I only have four as they are so expensive, and having them easily accessible to my younger students is challenging without a stand. I only have tables to set the xylophones on, and my younger students aren't tall enough to reach them. Having my bass xylophone on an adjustable rolling cart will give my students easy access, and enable them to use the proper mallet techniques.
