Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The students of our school all use the library. It is part of their week, every week. They look forward to coming to the rug and listening to the stories, learning about the authors, illustrators and their messages. The only thing better than that, is finding a book of their own to take home. A book that they can see themselves in. A book that they can learn about others in. A book they can read and enjoy independently or with their family. The quality of the books on our shelves matter. The kids deserve books that give them a sense of pride in themselves, accomplishment in their reading ability and excitement in their choice. The books in this project all speak to those important purposes as well as provide a common text for inviting discussion, reflection and insight.
