My Students
Good afternoon, I am a second year fifth grade, social studies teacher. We are a Title I school; however, our funding is still very low. These children are in desperate need of basic supplies such as number 2 pencils, construction paper, colored pencils, erasers, rulers, and reading books.
My students are very bright, have the desire to learn, and they are our future, but they don't have the finances for school supplies.
Unfortunately, we are in a climate that does not value the education for students from economically distressed communities. Our current Administration Secretary of Education has planned to cut major funding for Title I schools and we're already feeling the effects of potential decisions coming in the near future. One of the biggest assets these children do have is me as their fifth grade teacher. I will give them my heart and soul during the school year and go above and beyond to help them learn. I just need your financial help for these students to have the necessary materials to start off on a good foot this school year. For those of you reading this, I hope you can assist us. Thank you so much!
My Project
The requested tools are necessary for my students to function on the basic level. The standards required by the state of Georgia have a rigorous design and my students need these supplies they can't afford. We have weekly assignment tasks that include hands-on activities to keep students engaged in the learning process. My students face daily obstacles just to survive and getting the basic necessities of life is a daily struggle. Many of the students don't have the economic resources to purchase poster board, construction paper, markers, and in some cases, pencils. These supplies will alleviate the pressure off my students and will allow them to focus on the learning process.
