My Project

At my small-town, rural Kansas high school, our Student Council often plays a huge role, both within our school and in the community, because fewer students and local resources mean that each initiative can have a visible, lasting impact. Each year, our StuCo chooses a theme to help motivate our student body and set the tone for our year. This year, StuCo leadership has chosen a surfing/tropical theme to reflect the dynamic journey of leadership. Just as riding a wave requires balance, awareness, and resilience, so does leading a student body.

Helps my students bring our Student Council’s leadership initiative to life through the creation of a tropical-themed bulletin board, titled "Riding the Wave of Leadership."

This 12-foot-long bulletin board will serve as a central communication hub throughout the school year to share important updates with the student body, promote student-led events, spotlight acts of leadership and kindness, and provide inspiration that reflects the spirit of our school community. It will also be a visual representation of our efforts to build a positive school culture and ultimately empower our students to lead with intention and heart.

We are seeking funding for bulletin board supplies and themed decorations, including tropical patterns, surfboards, ocean bulletin board background paper, pennant banners, and bulletin border. These items will help us create a vibrant, engaging, and functional display that can adapt and grow with our leadership goals. With your support, we hope to make "Riding the Wave of Leadership" a meaningful part of our school environment, where students are encouraged to step up, stay informed, and feel a strong sense of connection and pride. We plan to use the leis on the first day of school to welcome back the student body and introduce our theme for the year!
