This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
For most of my Kindergarten students, this is their first school experience. They were around 3 - 3 1/2 when the Pandemic started. But they are a wonderful group of students who are so excited about being in school. Most of them are second language learners and come from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
I teach Kindergarten at a Title I school in Southern California and they deserve the very best.
We are a school of very diverse cultures, ethnicities, and economic backgrounds. And because this is their first school experience, I want them to have everything they need, which includes new outdoor equipment.
My Project
My students live in a low-income area. We are a Title 1 school and most students have free or reduced-price lunch. They are an amazing bunch of students, whom most have never been in school due to the Pandemic.
They deserve to have the best school experience inside and outside of the classroom.
Even though many of my students may face personal challenges, they are always smiling and ready to learn. And giving them the best school experience includes, their time outside during recess and lunch. Many of our tricycles got damaged, so we need new ones so everyone on our yard can have a chance to use them.
